First Off

First off, I want to thank you for all the things you've given.
First off, I want to thank you for making life worth living.
I want to thank you for these times that have made me feel alive.
Thank you for the gifts you've given.
And I want to tell you that I'm gonna love you 'til I die.

When we read "Oh, The Places You Will Go!" by Dr. Suess, I could not know as a a child just how wildly inaccurate it was.
For all his foresight, couldn't see what lie ahead for you and me. We also didn't know and we were sitting in the front row.
We're on a journey. We must let go of fear. So come along with me. Things are gonna get weird.
Some things we will loose and some we can hold dear. I"ll come along with you. Things are gonna get weird.
When we made all the choices that we did no matter how insignificant, seemingly, doors slammed shut and doors were opening. What choices led us here today might be impossible to say. But with you hangin' about, I kinda feel like it's all working out.
Put your seatbelt on 'cause we are gettin' gone. We are gettin' gone.
Bring along some popcorn 'cause this will be for long. This will be for long.

Round Your Town
02:12
|
|||
Sometime in the last century, someone like you coulda gotten to get me. For common sense I was running on empty. My tank was full of fear and envy.
But you can be sure: I won't be hanging 'round your town no more.
You can rest assured: I won't be hanging 'round your town no more.
Way back in a distant past life someone like you coulda made me your wife. Maybe wartime. Revolution rife. At minimum, existential strife time.
And I'm not even allowed there. And If I were, still never be found there. I can't remember my way around there. I'd get so lost just like you'd want me to.
In a time when I was stupider, maybe I woulda joined your mission to Jupiter. Tried on helmets. Trained for space flight. But never mind since I've gotten my head right.

We Are Screwed
03:41
|
|||
My god we are screwed. What are we gonna do?
Only makes sense at all with my head through a wall.
Things are coming apart. Now it's too late to start
to save the world that we knew. What are we gonna do?
I remember a time full of reason and rhyme
but I've come to believe those are false memories
Try to use common sense, tell me how far you get.
That world's over and through. What are we gonna do?
Half the people are dumb. Half of them are stubborn.
Half the people are mean or in between all three.
People can't be redeemed 'cause once they've picked their team
they can never be moved. What are we gonna do?
At this drain we're circling, freedoms hemorrhaging,
and villains doing their worst no matter who it hurts,
we can foresee the day the planet wipes us away.
Are these problems all moot? What are we? We are screwed.

Such Promise
02:58
|
|||
We started with such promise, right?
Like greatness was upon us. We'd fly.
We started with a purpose like
it would all be worth it. No need to hide.
It would all be worth it. Until we die.
It would all be worth it 'til we say our goodnight.
Things have gone a little sideways since then.
Got split up into factions of races and when
someone tries to pull us together again
we have to destroy them. We'll never mend.
We have to destroy them. All hope to rend.
We have to destroy them so we'll meet our end.
And it'll all be worth it. All be worth it.
And I'll be worth it. I'll be worth it.
If you're sticking around. Thinking of sticking around.
